ropewalk multicultural garden, southampton
Ropewalk community garden is a vibrant green space. A secret garden in the down town Southampton, area SO14 0DJ, home to an interesting collection of exotic trees , tropical shrubs, with borders and boxes of wild flowers and herbs , as exciting and as diverse as the Newtown and Nicholstown community itself.
The garden provides a peaceful meeting place for locals, an excellent milieu; perfect for seeking time out from the hustle and bustle of the inner city.
The garden ensures a safe playing space; designed on a Caribbean theme our pirate’s ship is a fun place for imaginations to run wild, with a colourful goldfish trail for the tots and wooden palm trees to shelter the grownups as they supervise from the fishy benches. All this rest in the shadows of our whale sculptures which catch the sun in their shinny 12ft fins and their proud silver tails
“Our village green” is managed by a group of dedicated volunteers, who give their time to a range of activities from gardening, arts and crafts to fundraising and entertainment. The Ropewalk community garden events team organizes regular social and educational activities suitable for all ages and ethnicities.
